There is no need to change the meter every time the load is increased. Generally, a single-phase meter is installed from 1 to 7 kW..and above 7 kW three-phase meter is installed. Or If someone has 3 phase meter installed and they reduce their load to less than 5 kW, then instead of three phase meter, they will have to install a single-phase meter. In short, in your case, the meter will not change if you increase the load from 1kw to 2kw.
